Salary RangeFrom $52293 to $66494 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Six or more years of experience in the creation of graphical elements for digital or print media. An associate’s degree in digital media, visual arts, or related field may substitute for two years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree in one of those fields may substitute for up to four years of experience.
Preferred Experience:
• Excellent overall design sense and creative drive, positive creative thinker
• Expert knowledge of and familiarity with using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PowerPoint.
• Excellent typography and design sense as evidenced by a digital portfolio
• General knowledge of content management systems, HTML and other web technologies
• Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat
• Strong understanding of digital technologies and trends
• Ability to interpret and adapt existing brands to the digital space
• Mobile design experience
• Responsive design experience
• Detail-oriented with the ability to take instructions and quickly execute
• Ability to complete assignments quickly and accurately and work well under pressure
• Professional manner with co-workers and clients
• Initiative to autonomously problem solve, troubleshoot, and complete the work that needs to be done
Duties Description Within the Media Services Center, the Project Assistant/Lead Digital Designer will create modern digital assets using existing branding and style guidelines for the NY.Gov and Governor.NY.Gov websites within tight deadlines, working closely with the Director of User Experience and web developers to translate business objectives into creatively designed modern digital graphics, website mock-ups, and digital communications that are responsive and accessible and which balance aesthetic design with usability. The Lead Digital Designer will remain current with the latest design trends and keep an organized inventory of all original graphics, create and maintain a web photo archive, and edit photos and save for web quality. This position involves a flexible work schedule and will require working some nights and weekends to complete priority assignments.
Creation of digital assets will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Design of new templates or template features across multiple platforms, applications, mobile versions, and New York State websites
• Website Mock-Ups
• Infographics
• New Logos
• Editing Images
• Iconography
• Signage
• E-Mail Templates
• Social Media Graphics
• Gifs
• Charts
• Visually Appealing PowerPoint presentations
Additional Comments Please note this is a temporary appointment with a projected term of 18 months. The position is pending Division of Budget and Civil Service approval. Additional information on work hours will be discussed at the time of interview. Some travel may be required on occasion. Some positions may require fingerprinting.
