Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving as a Supervising Computer Operator OR must currently be reachable on the Supervising Computer Operator list.
Duties Description • Set up and review automated schedules using TSO and ESP scheduling software to ensure that processing is completed accurately and on time.
• Properly handle deadlines and priority changes, making certain that user needs are met. Update job control cards and job input files as needed.
• Provide operations staff with all necessary instructions and check off sheets.
• Monitor the progress of the batch schedules using ESP, SDSF and NetWorker Management Console.
• Verify that batch jobs have completed successfully using ESP, SAVRS and NetWorker Management Console.
• Analyze job failures using message manuals. Correct the error, recover the failure and restart the job in the appropriate step using run book documentation.
• Escalate the failure to system and application programming staff when necessary.
• Document all job failures and their resolutions on an incident report. Notify necessary staff by phone or email.
• Update the automated job schedules using TSO and ESP as needed to resolve schedule discrepancies and to avoid recurrence in the future.
• Migrate MVS JCL into production libraries using TSO and ISPF, making operational changes where necessary. Migrate AS/400 CL programs and files to production using Alden Change Management System (ACMS). Migrate Windows programs and files to production directories using Windows move/copy functions. Update associated change management software and change logs as needed.
• Successfully communicate with users to satisfy their production inquiries and requests. Ensure that operators are given schedule instructions in a clear and concise manner. Effectively communicate with support staff when resolving job failures or setting up new procedures.
