Minimum Qualifications Lateral Transfer:
Candidates must have permanent status as an Agency Program Aide (Spanish Language), Grade13, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Section 70.1 allows a permanent, competitive class employee, who has at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title, such as Administrative Aide, Secretary 1, to transfer to an Agency Program Aide (Spanish Language) via Section 70.1
If you are not currently in a Spanish Language title, you must also pass a Spanish Language proficiency test to be considered for appointment.
Provisional Appointment:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent service in a position allocated to Grade 3 or higher. You must pass a Spanish Language proficiency test to be considered for appointment. When the next Civil Service examination for the title is held, the provisionally appointed employee must sign up for the examination, pass it, and be reachable in order to become permanent.
Duties Description The Agency Program Aide (Spanish Language) will be responsible for processing a variety of assigned tasks including, but not limited to:
• Respond to walk-in/phone/written inquiries
• Screening
• Process case related mail/document gathering
• Prepare evidence in files
• Initiate conciliation
• Schedule investigative activities of Human Rights Specialist 1
• Community Outreach
• Maintain database of common respondents and common attorneys
• Caseload audit
• Other title-appropriate duties may be assigned
