Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting a qualified State employee to fill the position of Program Research Specialist 3 (Criminal Justice), Grade 23, in the in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS), Bureau of Statewide Pre-Release Services.
Statewide Pre-Release Services Bureau is responsible for improved access to services for inmate-patients with mental illnesses who are leaving prison and for the implementation of an assessment and treatment program within DOCCS for inmates-patients identified as seriously mentally ill and who have histories of violence.
The incumbent of this position will perform a full range of program research activities working closely with Statewide Pre-Release staff on the design and management of data systems relative to the Re-entry Management System (REMS) in order to ensure that performance indicator data are collected and analyzed as well as ensure that program evaluation efforts can be undertaken to guarantee best outcomes.
Specific duties the incumbent may perform include, but will not be limited to, the following:
• Conduct research relating to enhanced treatment for inmate-patients with serious mental illnesses and histories of violence; and conduct multivariate statistical methods and prepare tables, graphs and other written reports summarizing these research results.
• Plan, develop and monitor the development of REMS to ensure that data collection methods are appropriate for reporting of performance data as well as future evaluation studies.
• Coordinate the development of an electronic document management system.
• Analyze and interpret data following analytical methods prescribed by DFS management.
• Identify actual or potential problem areas, trends, program accomplishments and similar factors in the implementation of REMS and suggest solutions to resolve identified problems.
