Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the current Program Operations Specialist 1 eligible lists (00-233 Transition or 25-565 Open Competitive) OR be a current New York State employee eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 or Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description As a member of the OPWDD Bureau of Employment & Meaningful Community Activities, responsibilities of the Program Operations Specialist 1 may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate the redesign and implementation of prevocational services that provide learning and work experiences, including volunteer work to individuals receiving OPWDD services that assist in developing general strengths and skills that contribute to employability in paid employment in integrated community settings.

• Coordinate the development of new prevocational regulations and other guidance documents.

• Coordinate scheduling and development of materials for regional and statewide trainings of over 100 voluntary agencies that provide prevocational services.

• Provide follow up email and telephone assistance to voluntary agencies and families that participate in regional and statewide prevocational trainings.

• Work with the OPWDD Communications Office to document and track success stories of individuals who transition from prevocational services to competitive employment.

• Prepare materials and schedule technical assistance meetings with OPWDD regional office staff, Medicaid Service Coordinators and other stakeholders to ensure consistency in the delivery of prevocational services.

• Assist in OPWDD efforts to significantly increase employment outcomes for people with developmental disabilities.

Additional Comments All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
