Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 2, G-18, OR in a position at the G-16 level or above deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law OR in a title deemed eligible for 70.1 transfer such as Supervising Computer Operator. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades.
Duties Description The Information Technology Specialist 2 supports customer service and end user training, notification, access issue resolution, and other critical activities within the Service Management Center of the Office of Information Technology Services' Public Safety Cluster. The incumbent will also assist Level 1 staff as needed in providing assistance to law enforcement users in accessing and troubleshooting issues regarding the entry of wanted and missing person records, access to criminal history records, DMV information, monitoring fingerprint systems, and other critical public safety applications.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
• Responds to user "help desk" requests or referrals of system/application related problems.
• Executes functional tests based on formal test plans.
• Maintains existing system use case documentation, manages change requests for system enhancements or defect remediation.
• Creates functional/system test plans based on system requirements, creates/identifies test data and test scenarios.
• Documents processing flows and data requirements, as required.
• Assists in analyzing the impact of implementing new or modified systems on computer resources and other agency programs.
• Conducts or assists in business/systems analysis and quality assurance activities.
• Elicits and documents business system requirements and documents those requirements in system use cases.
• Participates in meetings and works with customers, users, vendors and consultants to identify IT solution options.
• Facilitates/conducts User Acceptance Testing activities to obtain user signoff on system behavior.
