• One year in a permanent title eligible for 70.1 transfer per Civil Service Rules and Regulations OR
• Candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice as an Occupational Therapist in New York State AND have one year of post licensure occupational therapy experience.
• AND must possess a current valid driver’s license.

Duties Description Duties consistent with Occupational Therapy classification and standards set forth in Civil Service. Primary functions of the Senior Occupational Therapist (Sr OT) are to assess individual’s needs; provide direct occupational therapy services; provide clinical oversight/supervision to new entry/limited permit clinicians, OTA’s and students; and to provide staff training. Assessments are provided based on concerns identified by the individual and/or their support team. Common areas of assessment and/or services are mealtime concerns, feeding/swallowing disorders, loss of strength, loss of range of motion, seating/positioning concerns, safe movement/handling, post-hospitalization concerns, bed safety and positioning, fine and gross motor skills, balance, ADL skills, cognition, perception, independent living skills, vocational skills, equipment procurement fitting and monitoring, safe bathing and toileting, safe transportation, needs for alerting devices, environmental accessibility and sensory concerns.

1. Provision of OT assessments- Reviews record prior to assessment. Consults with residential and program staff, family members, and other clinical staff as needed. Administers and interprets standardized testing, non-standardized evaluations, functional evaluations, and/or clinical observations to determine individual’s baseline level of functioning, needs, and recommendations. Works cooperatively as member of Interdisciplinary Feeding Eating and Swallowing Team.
2. Provision of direct OT services- Develops objectives and treatment plans addressing needs identified in the assessment. Provides interventions as identified including direct therapeutic interventions, training/consultation, adaptive equipment, environmental assessment/modification, and fabrication/modification and monitoring of splints and helmets. Provides direct services as scheduled.
3. Maintain therapy clinic- Maintains equipment and clinic area as per safety and infection control guidelines.
4. Staff training and supervision- Provides training/consultation to residential and program staff as requested/indicated. Participates in New Employee Orientation, as assigned. Provides direct supervision, guidance and instruction to OT/OTA students including attendance, documentation and training. Provides clinical supervision for COTAs, as assigned.
5. Timely maintenance of documentation- Completes assessment reports, session notes, service summaries, discharge summaries, and billing within established time frames. All documentation is legible.
6. Communication/miscellaneous- Maintain current clinic schedule. Communicate changes in schedule, cancellations, and assessment times to key clinic staff and residential and program staff, as necessary. Follows established call in procedures. Keeps time and attendance current and timely submission. Completes and submits monthly report form to discipline coordinator within requested time frame. Provides advocacy for individuals.
7. Professional Development/Responsibilities- Attend/complete mandated DDSO training. Ensures familiarity with facility policies that relate to OT. Expand professional knowledge and skills through attendance at seminars, conferences, and discipline meetings. Maintain licensure/certification.

Additional Comments Day shift, 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexibility to make earlier or later schedule adjustments to provide in home assessments and/or services.
Pass Days: Saturday/Sunday
