Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment: Candidate must be a licensed engineer and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list or eligible for transfer.

Titles approved for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law are: Associate Building Construction Engineer, Civil Engineer 2, Public Health Engineer 2, and Senior Building Construction Engineer.

The titles of Environmental Engineer 2 and Environmental Engineer Civil 2 are approved for 70.1 transfer but the candidate must possess a Professional Engineers license and current registration.

For Provisional Appointment: Possession of a NYS license as a Professional Engineer and two years of post-licensure work experience in the design and construction of projects such as parks, parkways, recreational facilities, and comparable facilities, including maintenance garages, gymnasiums, auditoriums, and sewage treatment facilities. Consideration of a provisional candidate will depend on the (non) availability of candidates for permanent appointment.

Duties Description : Under the supervision of the Capital Facilities Manager, the incumbent coordinates engineering activities for the Niagara Region by supervising design, construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of facilities; personally manages large and complex projects; assigns staff to projects and reviews their work; reviews and certifies on behalf of the department plans, documents, and projects requiring the approval of a licensed engineer; assists the Capital Facilities Regional Manager in preparing capital budget requests; ensures that all engineering work performed complies with codes and standards; prepares feasibility studies, master plans, and designs for major construction projects; coordinates work with other agencies, engineering firms, and park officials and staff; supervises survey parties; and supervises and trains engineering and technical staff.
