Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree AND three years of experience in a public or private organization in the area of policy development, provision of technical assistance, development or implementation of educational or human services programs and/or development or implementation of grants and procurements.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of P-12 Education is seeking candidates for the position of Project Assistant in the Office of Early Learning. This Office is responsible for a wide range of educational programs and works closely with parents, early care and education agencies, schools and state agencies to coordinate programs and resources with the goal of making New York’s early learning system as comprehensive and seamless as possible. Under the general direction of the Supervisor of Education Programs, the incumbent will assist with implementation of initiatives under the federal Prekindergarten Expansion Grant. Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide technical assistance to school district sub-grantees in the implementation of the prekindergarten program, consistent with the grant goals and objectives;
• Assist school districts to complete all contracts and provide contractual support and assistance;
• Assist with the implementation of professional development consistent with the grant program and requirements as outlined in New York State’s plan;
• Assist with the integration of the web-based Early Learning System (WELS) and the New York registry of training and professional development of early childhood professionals (ASPIRE) with New York State’s teacher and administrator on-line system for certification and fingerprinting (TEACH) and the SED P-12 database;
• Provide key program technical support including developing web-based resources, managing data submitted by various projects related to the Prekindergarten Expansion Grant and developing reports to inform decision-making and policy development; and
• Assist sub-grantee school districts to align the Prekindergarten Expansion program with other prekindergarten programs under the Office of Early Learning to ensure program sustainability.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary position. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.

* Leads to a maximum salary of $81,415 based on annual performance advances.
