Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil service eligible list for the title;
OR
Transfer Opportunity - Candidates must have permanent status as an Administrative Aide, Grade 13, and be eligible for lateral transfer;
OR
be eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. To qualify for Section 70.1 transfer, candidates must have at least one year of permanent service in a title approved for transfer within two salary grade of the Grade 13 level.
Duties Description As an Administrative Aide, you would perform paraprofessional activities in a staff administrative capacity in such areas as personnel, training, budgeting, purchasing, administrative analysis, and/or general administration. Typically, you would assist a higher-level staff specialist but you might be assigned to projects which involve some independent preparation of written materials and reports, analysis of information, presentation of information, and formulation of recommendations. Tasks might include such things as preparing material for agency manuals, preparing correspondence and memoranda, transmitting information, conducting routine desk audits, organizing and preparing duties descriptions, compiling and reviewing budget data, reviewing bid results, etc. You might also assist in recruitment and selection of new employees and in conducting organizational studies to identify and solve administrative and management problems. A large number of tasks you would perform require the verbal exchange of information with the public, agency staff, administrators, and other state agency's personnel.
Additional Comments Background Investigation/Justice Center Review: Prospective appointees will be: 1) Checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs. Prospective employees whose names appear on the SEL as having been found responsible for serious or repeated acts of abuse or neglect will be barred from appointment and may have their names removed from the eligible list(s) for the title(s) if applicable. 2) Investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and Federal Criminal History Record Checks. All convictions must be reported; conviction of a felony or misdemeanor, or any falsified or omitted information on the prospective appointee’s employment application, may bar appointment or result in removal after appointment. Each case will be determined on its own merits, consistent with the applicable provisions of State and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information, and may be required to pay any necessary fees. 3) Screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR). Prospective employees will be required to pay any necessary fees. Additionally, prospective employees whose names are indicated on the SCR may be barred from appointment.
