Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving as a Supervising Computer Operator OR must currently be reachable on the Supervising Computer Operator list.

Duties Description • Supervise staff members in the Operations Center Services Unit by serving as the lead for the third shift providing immediate supervision to one or more Senior Computer Operators in OSC, as well as administrative supervision of all computer operators assigned to third shift; display professional behavior at all times and function as a positive role model for all staff; must be able to accept responsibility and guide or lead other employees in the performance of their duties.
• Coordinate the scheduling and rotation of first shift staff. This requires assigning staff where needed to ensure proper staffing patterns are maintained to satisfy workload necessities; accurately monitor leave requests making sure that minimum staffing guidelines are maintained making determinations such as; if there is sufficient personnel onsite, if overtime is required, if staff is at their assigned stations, and if the right people are at the right places for scheduled/expected workloads.
• Ensure that daily, weekly, monthly, and on request work is processed in a timely manner by guaranteeing all system change notices are implemented as scheduled; confers with the Scheduling Unit and our System support staff regarding the nightly schedules and any special requests and passes this information on to the Chief Computer Operator in charge; ensures that subordinate supervisors and staff are kept up to date on all events which impact Operations; holds regular meetings with employees where work assignments and priorities are discussed.
• Investigate, identify and resolve hardware problems or machine difficulties. Remains up to date on all data center equipment including its location, which group uses it, and what steps are necessary to obtain support; identify problem situations and notify appropriate support staff as necessary; recognize and attend to hardware failures promptly, facilitating their timely return to availability.
• Review shift, turnover, absentee and other reports as necessary. Ensures the accuracy and distribution of all shift, turnover, absentee, mandatory training schedules, and other reports as necessary; keep track of RMS worksheets, timesheets, and attendance on a constant basis and understand the needs of their shift and all other shifts.
• Prepares performance evaluations, probation reports, and work plans for second shift staff. Complete probationary, annual performance evaluations, and counseling memos according to schedule or need. These reports must be detailed and accurate and contain assessments regarding the employees’ job performance, attendance, and technical expertise.
• Provides training and instructions for Operation Center staff. Familiar with the expertise level of all staff and ensure that all newly hired employees are monitored as they proceed through their training programs and provide remedial training to all employees as necessary
