Minimum Qualifications Reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list; OR
Permanent New York State employee eligible for lateral transfer; or in a comparable title and eligible for Section 70.1 transfer; OR
A Master’s degree in psychology that includes a psychology practicum or externship which prepares graduates for master’s level psychologist positions and two years of supervised post master’s degree experience in a clinical or community mental health setting providing primarily psychological services.
Qualifying experience must primarily include performing diagnostic psychological evaluations or assessment tests, developing and writing psychological treatment plans, providing psychological counseling and treatment in one or more of the following areas: mental and/or emotional disorders, cognitive disorders, behavioral disorders, developmental disabilities, alcoholism, addictions, sex offender assessment and treatment, or forensic mental health.
Duties Description The Bureau of Behavioral Health Services is seeking an expert in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders with extensive psychological testing experience and familiarity with program development for people with developmental/intellectual disabilities. The position requires the ability to interpret psychological testing results in order to support development of individualized services for youth identified with developmental/intellectual disabilities. In addition, identifying appropriate resources in facility and in the community for youth placed with Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth is an essential part of the position. The identified candidate will provide consultation and trainings to facilities regarding the provision of services for youth with developmental/intellectual disabilities and will advocate for the services both while in placement and in the community.
Duties include:
Completing psychological evaluations when necessary
Development and oversight of treatment plans for youth with developmental/intellectual disabilities
Provide technical assistance and training to program staff
Support referrals to appropriate settings for youth with developmental/ intellectual disabilities
Maintain records and write reports.
Participate in team meetings.
