Minimum Qualifications Qualifications for transfer: current New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent status in a title within two grades of SG-18 and eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. This position may also be filled as a two-year traineeship via appointment from the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) eligible list. Eligible list candidates will be canvassed and need not respond to this posting. Employees eligible to transfer to HPA Trainee 1, NS-13, or HPA Trainee 2, NS-14, may also be considered.
Duties Description Reporting to the Director of the Compliance Program Review Unit or other supervisor within the Compliance Program Review Unit (CPRU) in the Bureau of Compliance, the incumbent performs duties relative to the assessment and monitoring of providers in meeting their statutory and regulatory compliance requirements. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Participate in on-site reviews as assigned, either as associate reviewer, or as lead reviewer for less complex providers. - Conduct desk reviews and analysis of provider compliance programs. - Conduct compliance contact initiatives of provider compliance programs. - Prepare reports and documentation; conduct post review analyses; present recommendations on improvement opportunities for discussion at Bureau meetings. - Provide compliance advice and guidance. - Interact with the management, attorneys, and/or compliance officers at providers’ offices regarding compliance program reviews and the review process. - Provide assistance in responding to compliance related telephone calls, e-mails, and letters received; as assigned, regularly check and triage e-mails from the Bureau mailbox. - Conduct research as necessary or as assigned, and assist in the development of compliance related publications for OMIG and other provider guidance materials, publications and presentations. Review and draft materials as assigned.

Excellent verbal/written communication skills and analytical skills;
Attention to detail: ability to analyze and determine relevant facts, and ability to develop and communicate a concise plan of corrective action;
Interviewing skills: ability to extract relevant information from providers and their representatives to determine conformity with program integrity requirements;
Self-directed/decision-making skills: ability to recognize appropriate actions, make recommendations, and/or make decisions;
Project management experience or willingness to attend Project Management training;
Experience with outreach and education-related activities, e.g. provider interactions, training, etc.;
Experience working in teams/collaborative environments;
Team player: ability to get along with others, experience working in a collaborative environment;
Approach: firm but fair, with a willingness to listen to providers and their representatives and make independent and objective recommendations to superior and then implement superior’s decisions, even if contrary to your recommendations.
