Minimum Qualifications A. Experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative, consultative or supervisory experience in a mental health program including at least one of the following:

1. One (1) year of satisfactory experience in a position comparable to a Clinical Chief of Service (COS) or Director of Mental Health Rehabilitation

OR

2.Two (2) years of satisfactory experience in a position as administrative head of a multi-disciplinary treatment team

OR

3.Two (2) years of satisfactory supervisory, professional or administrative experience in the development, operation and/or implementation of the mental health service delivery system for State facilities, counties or local/private agencies in three (3) or more of the following areas: program development, management procedures, community organization, resource planning, funding, program proposals, advisory boards, consumer and community advocacy and intergovernmental relations.

AND

B. Education

A Master's degree in a mental hygiene discipline (including physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, speech pathology and audiology, communication disorders, psychology, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, education, nursing), hospital administration, community mental health, business or public administration or other administrative area specifically related to health care, behavioral or social science from an accredited school; or a valid license to practice medicine in New York State or Canada. Current registration or licensure required where applicable.

Additionally, all candidates must be eligible to participate in Federal health care programs (e.g., Medicaid). Individuals excluded from participation in these programs will not be considered.

Duties Description The Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 – Operations (DDPC 2 Operations) is an essential member of the Executive Management Team at BPC. Under the general direction of the Executive Director and in close collaboration with the Clinical Director, the DDPC 2 Operations designs, develops, evaluates and ensures the effective operation of the facility’s inpatient programs; including the admission service, bilingual service, intermediate support and treatment service, and community skills service programs; and transitional residential programs, including the Transitional Living Residences, Community Transition Programs, and Crisis Residence. The DDPC 2 Operations participates in the development of the facility’s short and long range goals; establishes policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective service delivery; supervises, coordinates and directs the activities of subordinate managers; monitors and oversees staffing and assignments to ensure quality patient care; establishes and maintains safe environments for patient care; ensures service delivery complies with OMH guidelines and standards of regulatory agencies; establishes and maintains effective working relationships with external organizations to maximize resources and implement program goals; and reviews and manages census by monitoring admissions and discharges to place patients on appropriate units and to make certain appropriate community supports are used to meet patient needs

Bronx Psychiatric Center (BPC), a State-operated facility located in Northeast Bronx, is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Director, Psychiatric Center 2 – Operations. BPC is fully accredited by the Joint Commission and Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services and is affiliated with the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. With approximately 156 inpatient beds and a comprehensive outpatient program, BPC provides a wide array of inpatient, outpatient, and residential adult psychiatric services.
