Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred; Associate’s Degree with relevant experience considered;
Financial and analytic experience required, investment experience preferred; Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and advanced writing and editing skills; Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite; A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience in retirement plan administration or equivalent; A satisfactory equivalent combination of appropriate experience and education as determined by the New York State Governor’s Office of Employee Relations.
Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Executive Director of the Deferred Compensation Board (DCB), the Associate Director (Specialist) will assist with the administration of the Deferred Compensation Plan for employees of the State of New York and other participating public jurisdictions and oversight and rule making related to other governmental 457(b) plans established in the State (Model Plans). The Associate Director (Specialist) may also assist with the supervision of staff in DCB as needed. Duties include, but are not limited to: Assist the Executive Director and Associate Director with general administration of the Plan and work closely with the Board to accomplish the goals of the Plan, including encouraging participation in the Plan by educating employers and employees; Act as a liaison with the Office Manager to provide quality service to Plan participants who visit the Board Office and to head up problem resolution; Assist in the verification of balances and payment of the Plan’s invoices; Monitor and analyze Plan investment option performance and investment and retirement plan industry trends; Comprehensively develop statistical analysis of participant behaviors, related communications and special projects as needed; Monitor and assist in the calculation of financial penalties to Plan providers; Assist in developing the Quarterly newsletter for distribution to all Plan participants; Attend and assist at Plan related events; Maintain the Plan’s participant web site for content and timeliness; Travel, as necessary and appropriate.
