Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be an Information Technology Specialist 2 OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Create and / or modify ASF (on-line) and batch correspondence as requested by Business Units via ACAW system
• Create and / or modify COBOL program(s) as needed for ad-hoc special mailings as requested by Executive Management, Press Office and Business Units.
• Work with business unit and CIO staff to develop system change requirements
• Prepare specifications based on the user’s business requirements
• Facilitate user testing for ASF correspondence and /or special mailings
• Facilitate shipping the correspondence changes to the production region
• Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues as reported by the user community, as well as batch developers
• Maintain system documentation
• Create/Modify AFP printer resources for use in NYSLRS electronic
• correspondence. These may include forms, fonts, logos, signatures and page definition libraries
• Facilitate user testing with other CIO development teams
• Facilitate shipping the object to production region
• Maintain system documentation
• Assist the team supervisor in the completion of regularly scheduled query reports for Retirement business units and external entities
• Create or modify QMF queries as needed for ad-hoc special mailings
Additional Comments DESIRED COMPETENCIES:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Work well in a team environment
• Experience in preparation of work/project plans
• Experience in IBM’s Application Support Facility software, Overlay Generation Language (OGL) and Elixir’s Design Pro Tools for AFP printing
• Experience with SQL/QMF for writing ad-hoc queries
