Minimum Qualifications Associate degree or 60 college credits in an agricultural or natural resources discipline.
Duties Description Under the general supervision of the Principal Environmental Analyst (Agriculture), Grade 27, and/or Assistant Director Land and Water Resources, M2, the Sr. Environmental Analyst (Agriculture), NS performs duties related to farm and conservation practices, agricultural districts, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, local laws affecting farmers, Agriculture and Markets Law provisions, and Soil and Water Conservation Districts Law.
Duties may include, but are not limited to: Serves as the Agricultural Environmental Management (AEM)/Agricultural Nonpoint Source Abatement and Control Statewide Program Assistant; Collects, researches, analyzes, and reports on program accomplishments; Reports to the Commissioner, Soil and Water Conservation Committee, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and other State and federal partners on program outcomes, current status, and projections and trends; Assists and trains the Division and local Soil and Water Conservation Districts with field research, wetland delineation, and current geospatial analysis systems; Provides Urban/Suburban/Municipal support of Division programs, including a new Climate Resilient Farming program; Serves as the Climate Resilient Farming program coordinator by utilizing staff expertise and existing research to formulate program concepts, planning tools, and funding mechanisms; Acts as Comprehensive Nutrient Management (CNMP) Specialist to reinstate the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Comprehensive Nutrient Management Planning (CNMP) Review Program for AEM Certified Planners.
Additional Comments This is a temporary, hourly appointment. Actual work schedule, duties, travel requirements and length of temporary appointment will be discussed at the interview. This position is pending receipt of Division of Budget approval.
