Minimum Qualifications We are seeking an attorney with at least three (3) years of solid trial experience to defend the state and it employees in these actions, from commencement through trial. Trial experience is required, and the ability to manage a large caseload is essential. Superior legal research, writing, analysis, negotiation, oral advocacy and organizational skills are also required.

Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States.

Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG), Buffalo Regional Office, is seeking an experienced trial attorney to represent the State of New York and its agencies in the Court of Claims in a wide variety of litigation, including claims involving highway design, premises liability, unjust conviction, medical malpractice, breach of contract, and fleet claims involving State vehicles. The selected attorney will also be defending state employees in tort actions brought in State Supreme, and actions brought against them in federal court pursuant to 42 U.S.C. ยง1983.

Additional Comments Salary to be determined commensurate with experience.
