Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4 (Operations), G-25, OR in a position at the G-23 level or higher deemed administrative under Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law OR in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in advancement of more than two salary grades.
Duties Description This posting will be used to fill multiple Information Technology Specialist 4 (Operations) positions throughout the NYS Office of Information Technology Services. There are a number of exciting opportunities that will be further described upon contact for an interview, based on a match of your resume and your Candidate Interest sheet. Incumbents of these positions will lead computer operations activities including all data processing hardware and peripheral equipment operation; interface with individuals and entities both within and outside the Data Center to ensure that all necessary resources are available to complete shift workload; escalate processing problems and notify management, Technical Support, and customers as documented; write various Data Center materials, including procedures, standards, documentation, reports, memos, etc.; review and evaluate existing data center procedures, standards, and documentation, and recommend modifications as appropriate; monitor the automated scheduling packages (i.e. TWS on IBM or Open, OPCON or EXCAL on Unisys) operating on customer computer systems; participate in projects and special assignments; and perform the full range of supervisory responsibilities.
Additional Comments Some positions may require fingerprinting.
Some positions within End User Services may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Some positions are pending Civil Service and/or DOB approval.
Positions may be filled on the following shifts:
• Day/1st shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:15pm
• Evening/2nd shift: Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:15pm
• Night/3rd shift: Monday-Friday 11:00pm-7:15am
• Night & Weekend/3rd shift: Sunday-Thursday 11:00pm-7:15am
• Weekend Day Shift: Friday-Sunday 7:00am-8:00pm
• Weekend Day Shift: Saturday-Monday 7:00am-8:00pm
• Weekend Night Shift: Friday-Sunday 7:00pm-8:00am
