Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving in a Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) title OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Analyze mainframe COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL, MVS JCL and IBM utilities
• Analyze AS/400 RPG code, DB2 SQL and CL scripting
• Provide complete analysis of proposed system changes
• Create design documents and other related system documentation
• Collaborate with business analysts and systems users to gather and refine system change requirements
• Establish test conditions based on code specifications
• Code and debug mainframe COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL, MVS JCL and IBM utilities
• Code and debug AS/400 RPG code, DB2 SQL and CL scripting
• Conduct technical walk-throughs of proposed system changes
• Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in a development environment
• Debug and fix reported defects and implement enhancement requests
• Conduct code reviews as assigned and recommend changes
• Perform Quality Assurance testing of code changes as assigned
• Provide production support for batch & online processing
• Work closely with business analysts and system users on problem identification and resolution
• Provide on-call support for after-hours batch processing as needed
Additional Comments Desired Competencies
• Understanding and experience coding COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL, MVS JCL
• Understanding and experience coding AS/400 RPG, DB2 SQL, CL scripting
