Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Current Civil Service list for this title will be canvassed.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Director of Project Management, the Project Manager 1 will work in the Project Management Office. The PM 1 will work closely with staff to implement and execute new or existing information technology (IT) projects.
The Project Manager 1 will manage Projects and project teams, perform portfolio and IT Governance activities; develop, communicate, and maintain PM methodology and standards to promote a consistent approach.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

• Coordinate and support the activities of a project team;
• Participates in reviewing project proposals or plans to define basic scope statements, and documents basic project requirements
• Assist business teams and PMO in the development of business cases and scope documents
• Review and provide input on business cases created by business teams and to be presented for project implementation
• Participate in establishing timetables for completion of projects; establish critical milestones for projects and record/report schedule progress
• Work closely with assigned bureaus to ensure project implementation activities are communicated timely and effectively
• Identify and manage Risks and Issues associated with the full life cycle of a project
• Manage multiple OAG projects from Initiation through Closeout
• Support any organizational change management activities that result from Project implementation
• Refines templates to support project management
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned

Additional Comments Preferred qualifications:
• Experience leading small to medium scale projects
• High level of attention to detail, ability to manage multiple projects
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Experience Facilitating meetings, setting priorities and coordinating project resources
• Experience Supervising Staff in remote locations
• Experience managing vendors and vendor deliverables
• Working towards or has obtained PMP certification
• Self-motivated, organized and independent
• Experience working with PM/BA Tools used to develop business process flows, document requirements, create testing scripts, and confirm requirement traceability
• Experience with Requirements Traceable and Test Plan development
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including Visio, MS Project and PowerPoint
