Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must currently be serving in a Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming) title OR be eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Assist in discussions with requestor(s) to confirm requirements
• Collect, document and analyze requirements for mapping into database design
• Assist in analysis of requested modifications / determine effect of changes
• Assist in the preparation and support of data conversion and migration
• Assist in the preparation of technical specifications based on business requirements outlining changes to be made
• Write program code in accordance with business requirements and in adherence to established standards, to ensure integrity and scalability of the application.
• Develop and apply database fixes while ensuring data integrity is preserved
• Perform / document all unit and string testing
• Communicate status of assigned projects/tasks to immediate supervisor, including
possible delays and potential problem areas, in a timely and accurate manner
• Perform / document all unit and string testing
• Assist users in creation, execution and documentation of test plans
• Assist users during testing to ensure appropriate conditions tested and results validated.
• Maintain accurate system documentation
• Maintain procedures for Moving to Production
Additional Comments Desired Competencies
• Microsoft SQL Server development. Experience using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Business Intelligence tools.
• Experience developing applications using Visual Basic, VB.NET, or Microsoft Access Projects.
• Experience developing applications using Lotus Notes and Domino Designer.
• Experience in analysis and design, and the ability to interact with both technical and business staff.
• Experience performing unit testing, string testing and migration to system test environment and assisting business units with related system testing activities, prior to migration to production.
