Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as an Information Technology Specialist 1 OR have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service a title SG-12 or above deemed eligible to transfer via section 70.1 or 52.6 of the Civil Service Law AND have an Associate’s degree or higher degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems OR an Associate's degree or higher with fifteen credit hours in Computer Science OR two years of experience in one of the following computer related areas: network, server, storage, and systems management; telecommunications; IT customer support and training; computer installation, diagnosis and repair; technical writing; computer security; knowledge management; database administration, design and management; internet/intranet development, design, and maintenance; information technology project management; design and development of geographic information systems or computer aided drafting applications; computer programming; business/systems analysis; program design; or program testing. OR be reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 1 eligible list.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking applicants for the position of Information Technology Specialist 1. ITS is the service unit responsible for fulfilling the information processing needs of offices throughout NYSED. The incumbent of this position will work in the Audio Visual unit and provide technical support for the expanded use of state-wide video conferencing needs, as well as general audio/visual support. The duties of this position will include, but not be limited to, the following:
• Analyze customer’s technology needs and propose solutions for their events;
• Possess in-depth knowledge and experience in comprehensive Audio Visual solutions, such as video conferencing, audio components, microphone systems, collaborative webinar products, SMARTboards, etc;
• Support events held by NYS agencies and community groups in Chancellor’s Hall including total audio solutions, webcasting, audio visual displays and staging;
• Provide executive level customer service for meetings involving the Board of Regents, District Superintendents, Commissioner’s Advisory Council and other stakeholders;
• Support approximately 30 conference room events per week including video conference bridges;
• Maintain, analyze and troubleshoot all audio visual equipment and demonstrate the ability to use diagnostic tools associated with audio visual systems; and
• Keep an accurate documentation log, including inventory and problem/resolution descriptions.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval.
*Salary leads to $53,606 through annual performance advances.
