Minimum Qualifications 1. Education and experience:
a. 30 semester college credit hours, including or supplemented by 12 semester credit hours in forestry, which must include at least one course in three or more of the following areas: forest biology, silviculture, forest mensuration, forest protection, forest soils, dendrology, botany and land surveying
OR
b. One year of diversified, technic al forestry experience in two or more of the following areas is desired: forest management, including sale and removal of timber products, forest inventory, including timber cruising and appraisal, nursery operation, including the transplanting of tree or shrub seedlings; forest pest management , including control of diseases and insect pests. Other natural resource related experience may be substituted for the forestry experience if the educational requirements are met.
2. Must have a valid driver's license;
3. Must be physically capable of performing field work common to the assigned work a rea over rough terrain and during inclement weather
Duties Description The successful applicant will:
• Monitor easement properties; document natural or human-caused changes on the easement
properties; prepare and submit reports of field observations.
• Assist with the preparation of Baseline Documentation materials for conservation easement properties; including preparation of GIS maps, and documentation of natural and man-made property features using written text, diagrams, and photographs.
• Assist with management planning and implementation, including collecting information for sections of Recreation Management Plans or Unit Management Plans and implementation of plans already completed.
• Assist Lands and Forests staff reviewing forest management plans and forest management activities.
Verify in the field that forest management activities are being conducted in accordance with the terms
and conditions of the conservation easement.
• Assist Lands and Forests staff in forest inventory on State Forests lands.
• Assist Lands & Forests staff in administration of timber sales on State Forest lands.
• Perform necessary clerical work, such as entering data into a database or files; researching/summarizing former documents and files; scanning documents; report and discuss easement issues or property conditions with supervisors; etc.
• Participate in periodic training and staff development workshops, meetings, or conferences.
Additional Comments Seasonal, hourly appointment with a duration of 8/24/15 -3/31/16.
