Minimum Qualifications Position requires 10+ years of investigative experience in a major police department or law enforcement agency, preferably in the area of fraud, including contract and white-collar crime, 3+ years of which included supervisory experience. Applicants must have excellent interpersonal and writing skills, as well as proficient computer skills and effective interviewing skills are required. Successful Deputy Chief Investigator candidate will have high-level experience interacting with other major law enforcement agencies and the ability to oversee multiple and highly sensitive, confidential investigations is necessary. The position requires knowledge of technical equipment used in law enforcement. It is essential for applicant to have extensive knowledge in New York State criminal law and procedure. The position requires significant experience managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary investigative teams, as well as conducting internal investigations is necessary. Unscheduled hours and travel may be necessary. Bachelor’s degree required.

Duties Description The Deputy Chief Investigator is responsible for assisting the Deputy Inspector General of Investigations in supervising and managing the investigative staff in carrying out this Office’s mission to uncover waste, fraud and abuse in state government. The responsibilities of the Deputy Chief Investigator include planning, coordinating and monitoring investigations; reviewing and assigning complaints; directing case reviews; managing a caseload; conducting interviews and preparing written reports; and, serving as a liaison with other law enforcement agencies.

Additional Comments Salary is commensurate with experience.
