Minimum Qualifications For CJPR1, SG-18 level: Permanent service as a Criminal Justice Program Representative 1 (CJPR1), SG-18; or one year of permanent competitive or 55b-c service in a title SG-16 or higher, and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law. Titles approved for 70.1 transfer to the CJPR1 are Correctional Facilities Specialist 1, Criminal Justice Policy Analyst 2, and Program Research Specialist 2 (CJ).

CJPR1 Trainee: Permanent service in this title or one year of permanent competitive or 55 b-c service in a title SG-11 or higher, and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law. Titles approved for 70.1 transfer to the Trainee 1 level are Agency Program Aide, Administrative Aide, or Crime Victims Specialist 1. You may be eligible for 70.4 transfer to the Trainee 1 level in you have served one year in a position SG-11 or higher, have a bachelor’s degree, and have taken and passed the PCT, PCO or PATT exam. Questions on eligibility can be directed to the Human Resources Office.

Candidates appointed at the Trainee 1 level will need to successfully complete a two-year traineeship before advancing to the CJPR1, SG-18 level.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree are preferred.

Duties Description The two Criminal Justice Program Representative 1’s (CJPR1) will review grant applications; provide guidance to criminal justice and not-for-profit agencies in program and budget development; prepare written contract work plans; prepare written, statistical and oral reports; and make funding recommendations to supervisory staff. Tasks include assisting in the development and implementation of local assistance procurements and resulting grant contracts; monitoring of grant programs through site visits to review fidelity of implementation and assess the accomplishment of program goals and compliance with state and federal grant requirements; and coordination of inter-agency and intra-agency efforts to enhance cross-systems collaboration and improve statewide efforts to address public safety issues. Grant program areas include juvenile justice, state legislative awards, crime labs, gun violence reduction and federal Byrne-JAG funding. In addition, the Unit is responsible for the administrative oversight of office-wide contract development procedures, and item holder will therefore be required to provide at least a supportive, if not a lead role in these areas. Computer skills necessary; Microsoft Excel a plus.
