Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: New York State employee with current permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Public Health Nutritionist 2 (G-24); OR a New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Public Health Nutritionist 1 (G-22) and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the NYS Civil Service Law.
***Provisional Candidates: Current DOH employee with three months of permanent or contingent-permanent service as either; (A) Public Health Nutritionist 1, or (B) Senior Nutrition Services Consultant or Health Systems Specialist 2 (Nutrition).

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with program development and evaluation, contract management, technical assistance, and training. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills, and experience with Word, other Microsoft Office programs, and e-mail. Experience with fiscal process -- budgets, voucher processing and line item interchanges and contract development.

Duties Description As a Public Health Nutritionist, in general, you would serve as the Department of Health’s representative for implementing nutrition policies and programs, providing consultation or technical assistance and monitoring the nutrition program standards of contract agencies. You would perform administrative and technical activities in support of public health nutrition programs, specifically oversight of the MARO Bureau of Nutrition Risk Reduction. You will be working in a team environment. This position supervises 3 professional staff and 1 administrative support staff.

Additional Comments Permanent, full time appointment, selected candidate must maintain registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration. ***Provisional pending successful completion of the exam and reachability on the Civil Service eligible list. Travel is required, including travel to some areas not served by public transportation.
