Minimum Qualifications Senior Accountant: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Accountant, G-18 OR one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a G-16 or higher in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law OR eligible for appointment from the Senior Accountant/Senior Auditor eligible list.

Trainee: One year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in any title allocated to G-12 or higher OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law OR eligible for appointment from the Accountant Trainee/Auditor Trainee eligible list.

Duties Description Under the general direction of the Principal Accountant in the Finance office, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

• Review daily journal entries for accuracy and post entries to general ledger.
• Assist the Associate Investment Officer and the Principal Accountant in the preparation and review of monthly financial statements.
• Conduct daily banking activities of the Lottery by managing daily cash deposits and incoming/outgoing funds transfers.
• Review daily reporting of federal, state, and city tax withholding from player prizes and ensure timely remittance of withholdings to the appropriate governmental agencies.
• Prepare revenue and reserve projection reports as required by management for internal and external reporting.
• Review the weekly funds settlement with Lottery retailers and make the appropriate transfers to the Lottery cash accounts at the Office of the State Comptroller.
• Reconcile daily Lottery subscription purchases to funds received. This includes comparing the daily remittance file received from the credit card processor to reports from the subscription system.
