Salary RangeFrom $67703 to $85635 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Seven years of experience in one or more of the following assignment areas with a national network, local network television affiliate, cable news, commercial media production facility, marketing communications agency or related operation:
• Engineering or newsroom technology specialist, master control operator, media ingest operator, and/or media data center operator; OR
• Production planner, production assistant, traffic coordinator, assistant account executive, or assignment editor; OR
• News videographer, studio camera operator, art director, copywriter, graphic designer, video editor, producer, or web designer; OR
• Broadcast engineer, uplink engineer, maintenance engineer, or broadcast systems integration.
Substitution: College study in a related field may be substituted for up to four years of experience as listed above with 30 credit hours equaling one year of experience. Credit must have been received from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following accepted educational practices.
Duties Description Responsible for the technical operation and signal flow management through satellite, fiber and webcast delivery systems.
• Install, maintain, operate and troubleshoot systems including multimedia production equipment, satellite ground stations, satellite remote vehicles, fiber optic systems, multimedia file storage systems and internet delivery systems.
• Comply with all FCC regulations regarding the operation of satellite transmission systems.
• Provide crew services needed in the production of multimedia content and events.
• Troubleshoot and repair broadcast and production equipment.
• Function as Engineer in Charge on large productions or systems integration projects
• Maintain records of incoming and outgoing content and perform file management and archiving tasks.
• Setup and operation of temporary production facilities including camera systems, webcasting encoders and video switching systems.
• Training and direction of master control operators and operations engineers
Important Note: Travel and variable schedule, including overtime in support of operations are required, as necessary.
*Position is non-competitive, temporary pending final approval to add these positions to Appendix 2 of the Rules of the Classified Service.
Additional Comments NS is equated to salary grade 23. Travel and variable work schedule is required.
