Minimum Qualifications This is a transfer opportunity for a current State employee with permanent service as a Senior Architect.
Section 70.1 Transfer:
One year of permanent competitive services as a Facilities Planner 2, SG-23 and possess a NYS Registered Architect’s license with current registration.
Duties Description The incumbent will provide professional architectural services to include: code analysis, pre-design services such as feasibility studies, programming and facility condition assessments. In addition, the incumbent will provide administrative functions such as employee supervision, project management/scheduling, quality control and information management. In doing so, the incumbent will provide valuable support to Real Property Management’s (RPM) Division of Construction Management with exposure to RPM’s entire operation.
The duties may include but will not be limited to the following:
• Perform field investigation and documentation of existing conditions.
• Prepare budget studies, and/or preliminary drawings, when required, following the clients statement of requirements.
• Prepare construction documents (plans and specifications) from preliminary drawings, space plans and/or written statements of work.
• Evaluate and insure that building designs conform to applicable standards, codes, agency policies and program objectives.
• Provide technical supervision of drafting.
• Assist staff in solving design problems related to projects.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates.
• Determine the general type of system to be used on each assigned project and assign detailed designs or checking projects to subordinates.
• Supervise, assign, review and coordinate the work of design team members including field visits, document preparation, estimating, and specification writing.
• Manage Design Studio workload, prepare status reports and regularly update executive staff from projects inception to completion.
Additional Comments Operating Needs:
• Current NYS Registered Architect.
• Code Enforcement Certification ICC/NYS or ability to obtain such within one year.
• Working knowledge of NYSDOL Code Rule 56.
• Lead Abatement Certification or ability to obtain such within one year.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience with multiple building types including design, construction and maintenance.
