Senior Accountant: Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title. Appropriate titles include but are not limited to: Senior Auditor, Senior Internal Auditor, Data Processing Fiscal System Auditor 1, Tax Auditor 1, State Program Examiner 1.
Accountant Trainee 1 or Trainee 2: Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, having one year of permanent competitive service in an appropriate title. Appropriate titles include but are not limited to: Auditor Tr 1 or 2, Data Processing Fiscal System Aud Tr 1 or 2, Tax Auditor Tr 1 or 2, State Program Examiner 1 Fiscal.
Please note that in order to be appointed to this position you must also have a 4 year degree and a minimum of 24 credit hours in Accounting and/or Auditing.
Duties Description As a Senior Accountant with the New York Sate Insurance Fund (NYSIF) the duties would include but are not limited to:
Performing reconciliations on internal custody accounts. Reconciling cash balances from general ledger to external third party reports and bank statements. Reconciling various cash and suspense accounts to the bank statements as well as NYSIF internal systems. Assist in resolving bank issues (checks clearing, deposits, miscellaneous postings, etc.). Responsible for petty cash reimbursement and AP check disbursement. Updating policy and procedure manuals as needed. Providing support to staff on various ad hoc assignments
