*Section 70.4: Candidates with one year permanent competitive service as a Grade 11 or higher, who have a bachelor’s degree* and who have taken and passed the most recent examination for Labor Services Representative Trainee 1 (SL), may qualify for transfer.
*From a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable education practices.
Hourly LSR’s are not eligible for transfer or reassignment.
Duties Description Standard Duties:
As a Labor Services Representative Trainee 1 (Spanish Language), you would assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations. You would interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences. You would identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers. You would provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor. You would provide these services to both English and Spanish speaking customers.
Additional Comments Conditions of Employment: To be considered for appointment you will be required to pass a Civil Service language exam to demonstrate proficiency in speaking, writing and reading Spanish at a level that will ensure your ability to perform the duties of the position.
