Minimum Qualifications Current permanent status as an Addictions Counselor 1 and qualified for a lateral transfer ~OR~ Eligible for appointment from the current Addictions Counselor 1 eligible list. Applicants must possess current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State. Candidate must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs. Failure to maintain licensure, certification and Medicaid/Medicare eligibility will result in the termination of employment.

Duties Description The incumbent will be part of a multidisciplinary team, providing treatment services to alcohol and substance abuse disordered patients at a 30 bed inpatient rehabilitation program. The incumbent will carry out such tasks as, but not limited to, the following: individual and group therapy, didactic presentations, and tasks in support of the total therapeutic environment and milieu and quality patient care; admission assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans; assist in dining room, hourly checks on patients, assisting patients and significant others to continue treatment and/or be engaged in recognized self-help groups. In addiction, crisis intervention as needed and other tasks as assigned or needed.
