Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Interested candidates must be reachable on the Professional Accounting and Auditing Positions eligible list or currently an employee of New York State eligible to transfer under Section 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law.
To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer to a Sr. Accountant, SG-18, a candidate must:
Have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title, a bachelor’s degree and 24 credit hours in accounting/auditing courses.
To be eligible for a 70.1 transfer to an Accountant Trainee, a candidate must:
Have one year of permanent, competitive service in a qualifying title, a bachelor’s degree including 24 credit hours in accounting and/or auditing courses.
To be eligible for a 70.4 transfer to an Accountant Trainee, a candidate must:
Have one year of permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a grade 12 or higher, and Meet the open competitive minimum qualifications of the position, and
Have passed the Professional Positions in Accounting and Auditing examination.
To be eligible for a 70.4 transfer to the Sr. Accountant, SG-18, a candidate must:
Have one year of permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to a grade 16 or higher and Meet the open competitive minimum qualifications of the position, and
Have passed the professional positions in accounting and auditing examination.
To be eligible to transfer from an Accountant Aide to an Accountant Trainee 1, the candidate must:
Have one year of permanent competitive service as an Accountant Aide, and 24 credit hours in accounting/auditing.

Duties Description Communication with Business Partners:
• Communicate with internal and external business partners to coordinate processing and recording of domestic fixed income and equity related investment transactions, corporate actions, income amounts due, and market values of the varied domestic investment vehicles.
• Communicate with internal and external business partners to ensure that important transaction information is processed timely and accurately.

Prepare Monthly Reconciliations:
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of domestic bonds and equity investments on SunGard Invest One accounting system to the Custodian bank statements for all domestic holdings.
• Communicate and research variances to the Custodian bank; document and notify supervisor of variances that are unresolved.
• Ensure reconciliation from the SunGard Invest One accounting system to the General Ledger on a monthly basis.

Prepare Work Papers:
• Prepare clear and concise work papers to document and support subsidiary and general ledger entries.
• Ensure work papers are prepared in accordance with Bureau standards and that they are available for supervisory review and audit verification.

Support other Asset Classes and Special Assignments:
• Support other asset classes as necessary during audit and financial reporting season.
• Work on Special assignments that may be required by management, including researching new security types, setting up master files, and evaluating security pricing requirements.
