Minimum Qualifications Either 1. One year of experience assisting in engineering, engineering technology, engineering management technology, architecture or architectural technology, environmental technology, electronics, electronics technology, landscape design, materials laboratory technology, drafting or surveying, AND graduation from high school or possession of diploma issued by a recognized educational authority;
or 2. 18 semester credit hours of college course work in mathematics, physical science, engineering or engineering technology, architecture or architectural technology, construction technology, environmental technology, landscape architecture/design, drafting, forestry, surveying, aeronautics, or electronics;
or 3. Graduation from a high school technical education program (recognized by the New York State Education Department as meeting acceptable program practices and standards) in CAD/CAM, construction technology, drafting, engineering, engineering graphics, or electronics.
Duties Description The seasonal Engineering Technician will be working with a field survey crew under direct supervision of the Crew Chief or Land Surveyor, assists in field surveys and related office duties: serves as survey technician, instrument operator, reduces and plots field notes, makes engineering and surveying computations, checks the computations of others, prepares maps, and assists in title searches. This position requires having a valid driver’s license, plus be able to hike up to 5 miles navigating difficult terrain, while carrying up to forty pounds of equipment and supplies daily and may require working in poor weather conditions. The seasonal ET will be working a 40 hour week and be working outdoors +/-80 % of the time with tools and equipment associated with the surveying practice.
Additional Comments It is a seasonal, hourly appointment from 5/16/16 - 8/26/16. Actual work schedule may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
This Position will be reporting to Allegany Office then traveling to various locations in the 6 western counties of New York comprising Region 9 to perform land surveys of various types.
