Minimum Qualifications Open to NYS employees with one year of permanent or contingent permanent status as a Agency Program Aide or in a title designated appropriate for Section 70.1 transfer of the Civil Service Law. Candidates reachable on the eligible list for this title will be considered through a canvass and do not need to apply.

Duties Description PROVIDES LITIGATION SUPPORT TO BUREAU MANAGEMENT AND LINE ATTORNEYS
• Functions as the chief administrator of the bureau’s case management system, SilverCase.
• Directs the flow of new incoming matters to the bureau’s 80+ attorneys and other bureaus
• Ensures the case tracking system is continually updated
• Prepares reports from SilverCase
• Transmits legal papers to correct attorney, OAG bureau or other law office
• Responds to inquiries from the public and outside agencies regarding OAG services
• Directs phone calls for interim emergency relief to appropriate attorneys/ supervisors within the Litigation Bureau
• Trains new staff members in the use of SilverCase
HANDLES LEGAL DOCUMENTS AND INCOMING MAIL
• Reviews legal documents and unidentified correspondence received by the bureau via mail, facsimile and personal delivery
• Coordinates case status with Managing Clerks Office.
• Interfaces with Emergency Litigation supervisor
• Enters documents which initiates new cases on SilverCase
• Searches SilverCase to find where unidentified documents belong
• At Deputy Bureau Chief direction, assigns cases to nine sections, other bureaus, other State agencies or court to which they belong, maintaining a separate database to track miscellaneous correspondence
• Identifies the procedural status of all cases and the responsible attorney which requires the ability to identify Orders to Show Cause and other documents which require immediate attention
• Insure that responsible supervisors receive and act timely on those papers
• Obtains court docket sheets via the PACER (Public Access to Court Electronic Records) docketing system
• Notifies appropriate attorneys, local, State, or federal agencies, or courts if documents are received in error, via telephone, and then sends them via mail or fax
MAINTAINS SILVERCASE SYSTEM
• Maintains accurate and complete case records by entering data
• Opens and closes cases, and corrects entries when necessary
• Exhibits substantial discretion in determining what data to enter and selecting closing notations, pursuant to Bureau policy

as well as analytical ability to direct the flow of new work.
