Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have strong quantitative, analytical, writing, research and interpersonal skills; communicate clearly and concisely; and have experience in Microsoft Excel and Word. The ability to work independently as well as part of a team is necessary. Preference will be given to graduate students applicants, but undergraduate students are also encouraged to apply.

Duties Description The successful candidate will be involved in various special projects for the Mental Hygiene and Labor Relations (MHLR) Unit. The Mental Hygiene Unit budgets for the following agencies: Office of Mental Health (OMH), Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs, the Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS), and the Developmental Disabilities Planning Council (DDPC), and is also responsible for budgeting for general state charges, employee fringe benefits and other collective bargaining issues.

The purpose of this internship will be to work, under the supervision of a team leader and with the assistance of other DOB examiners and State agency staff, on the development and maintenance of a residential housing programs inventory. The intern will first help to develop and maintain an inventory of State agency (principally OMH and OPWDD) operated and State funded residential sites. The successful candidate will then work on researching and updating relevant information about these sites, including building age, location, and condition and program specifics.

The candidate will also be involved in other MHLR activities, and will be given the opportunity to work on additional assignments as necessary.
