Child Support Specialist 1/Child Support Specialist Trainee 1, NS:
Candidates must be reachable on the Child Support Specialist 1 eligible list or the Professional Careers Opportunity (PCO) eligible list in Albany. Candidates who are currently reachable on the Child Support Specialist 1 eligible list or the PCO eligible list in Albany need not submit an application for this posting unless they are applying directly as a result of the transfer qualifications listed above.
Duties Description Duties of these positions may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Monitor contractor performance at the State Disbursement Unit to ensure all contract requirements, deliverables, and timeframes are met;
• Assist local district staff to increase the numbers of paternity and support orders and the level of child support collected by implementing and using a variety of establishment, enforcement and collection processes;
• Review, analyze, monitor and communicate with local district child support enforcement operations to ensure program integrity and improve efficiency;
• Conduct on-site visits to assess local district operations and to promote full use of appropriate procedures;
• Provide technical assistance to local district child support enforcement units by interpreting both federal and State statutes, rules and regulations, management reports, program and systems requirements, so that the local district staff can carry out the child support program as required;
• May provide technical assistance to local district child support staff in the use of the automated systems.
Additional Comments Full-time, permanent or contingent appointments will be made. If certified by Civil Service, mandatory reemployment list candidates must be considered first for appointment to these titles.
Salary for Trainee 1 is $39,713.
