Minimum Qualifications Appointments may be made using the following minimum qualifications:
1) Reachable on appropriate Civil Service eligible list OR
2) Eligible for Transfer*
For appointment to a two-year traineeship leading to Senior Accountant, G-18:
1) Reachable on appropriate Civil Service eligible list OR
2) Eligible for Transfer.
In order to be appointed at the Trainee 1 level, equated to a G-14, the candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree and have satisfactorily completed 24 semester credit hours in accounting/auditing from an accredited institution.
Should this position be filled at the Trainee I level, the minimum beginning salary will be $41,993.00
To be appointed to the Trainee 2 level, equated to a G-16, the candidate must have one year of professional accounting/auditing experience, or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited institution.

Duties Description Duties Description: This is an auditing position. Job responsibilities include:
•Compliance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (IIA Standards)
•Perform independent audit work of various program areas and agents of the Commissioner
•Perform audits using established audit programs or, where no established program is available, develop the audit program subject to supervisory approval
•Evaluate the adequacy of internal controls in an office’s program and provide corrective recommendations for vulnerabilities noted
•Review office procedures to determine compliance with regulations, management expectations, and internal control objectives
•Prepare detailed workpapers supportive of audit findings
•Prepare documents to convey audit findings to office management and provide recommendations appropriate to correct weaknesses
•Complete audits timely and within budgeted staff days
Additional Comments Appointment to this position will require some overnight travel.
Appointee will be required to operate a motor vehicle; therefore, you must possess a driver's license valid in New York State.
Interviews will be held in Albany, NY
