Minimum Qualifications Reachable for appointment on current Civil Service list for this title; or, one year of permanent competitive class service as an Associate Attorney; or, one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.

Duties Description The incumbent will work in the Appeals Division at the NYS Insurance Fund. This Division reviews Worker's Compensation Board and Board Panel decisions and, when, appropriate, files administrative appeals. The incumbent will perform these duties as well as assist the Division Head in determining which appeal to file. The position will require the candidate to handle especially complex and/or novel issue appeals. The incumbent will interact with NYSIF case managers, Claims Services Representative 2's and Insurance Fund Hearing Representatives and will provide training for new attorneys and hearing representatives.

Additional Comments Preferred candidate should possess experience in Workers Compensation Law, Third Party, Research and Analysis, Settlement Negotiations, Appeals, Drafting Briefs and Appellate Argument.
