Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.

Candidates must have permanent status as a Mental Health Program Specialist, Grade 27, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR one year of permanent, competitive service in a title eligible for transfer via Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is currently recruiting to fill a Mental Health Program Specialist, Grade 27, vacancy in the Long Island Field Office. The incumbent will serve as the Deputy Director of the Field Office and will be the primary liaison among staff to providers, community staff, Field Office and OMH Central Office. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Formulate and recommend policies and procedures to the Field Office Director and OMH Executive Level staff regarding health care reform, standards compliance and local implementation of various initiatives.
• Represent the Field Office and the Office of Mental Health (OMH) in the development and implementation of new initiatives and special projects.
• Manage and direct a multidisciplinary team ensuring uniformity and conformance to policy and regulations and a consistent and timely response to stakeholders, recipients and families.
• Promote the development of effective and efficient service delivery systems.
• Represent OMH at meetings and task forces with external agencies, mental health advocacy groups, and trade organizations.
• Manage the development, regulation and oversight of mental health programs on Long Island.
• Provide technical oversight and assistance as OMH moves to the Managed Care environment.
