Minimum Qualifications Permanent service in this title OR one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-7 or higher and otherwise eligible for transfer under Civil Service Law.
Duties Description This position exists within the Administrative Services Unit of the Office of Public Safety (OPS) and provides administrative support for the Police/Peace Officer Registry, police/peace officer training records database and the Security Guard Program. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Reviewing incoming registry and training documents;
• Determining appropriate action and making decisions with respect to eligibility for certification of training and admittance to the police and peace officer registry;
• Responding to technical questions and addressing issues related to police, peace and security guard training programs;
• Processing training registrations;
• Gathering and maintaining statistical information related to work productivity;
• Preparing basic reports and providing documentation for reports prepared by supervisor;
• Conducting audits and analysis of registry and training data and additional overflow work as necessary;
• Acting as liaison with other agencies in the coordination of training permits;
• Providing phone coverage and answering technical questions related to the Security Guard program;
• Assisting other units within OPS when requested; and
• Special projects as needed.
This position requires some independent judgement. The Office Assistant 2 must be able to interpret, convey and apply various state and agency procedures, rules, regulations and guidelines in carrying out the duties.
Additional Comments Appointment is subject to Division of Budget waiver approval.
