Minimum Qualifications All applicants must be currently matriculated graduate college students. Candidates should have strong quantitative skills (formal training in econometrics is preferred); intermediate knowledge of SAS and proficiency in Excel; capacity to manage and analyze large data sets; and an ability to provide effective written and oral communications.

Duties Description The candidate will be assisting in the completion of various special projects related to the responsibilities of the Gaming and Other Taxes Team. These will include: [1] updating a gravity model (SAS) to analyze the impact of new potential gaming facilities on existing NYS facilities; [2] developing and organizing a comprehensive overview of laws, rules, regulations, and other pertinent information related to traditional lottery games, video lottery terminal (VLT) facilities, and casino gaming facilities; [3] improving the efficiency of current forecasting procedures utilizing SAS programming; and [4] reviewing and analyzing econometric models currently used to forecast receipts for the real estate transfer tax and estate tax, and cigarette tax stamp sales. Other duties will include assisting in tasks related to the Financial Plan Quarterly Update and the drafting of 10 Day Bill memos.
