Minimum Qualifications Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law, or reachable on the current Civil Service eligible list.

Provisional Qualifications: You must be a qualified employee of the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services and have had three months of permanent competitive or 55b/55c service as:
A: An Addictions Counselor 2; OR
B: Community Mental Health Nurse, Nurse Administrator 1, Nurse Administrator 1 (Psychiatric) , Nurse 3 (Psychiatric), Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Social Worker 1, Social Worker 1 (Spanish Language), Social Worker 1 (Deaf and Hearing Impaired), Social Worker 2, Social Worker 2 (Spanish Language), Licensed Master Social Worker 1, Licensed Master Social Worker 2, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker AND current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). OR
A bachelor’s degree or higher AND current registration as a Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in New York State AND three years of post-CASAC addictions counseling experience in a certified or licensed program AND one year of clinical supervision in a certified or licensed program.

Duties Description The incumbent will supervise members of a multidisciplinary team, providing treatment services to alcohol and substance abuse disordered patients, at a 30 bed inpatient rehabilitation program. The incumbent will carry out such tasks as, but not limited to the following: individual and group therapy, didactic presentations, and tasks in support of the total therapeutic environment and milieu and quality patient care; psychosocial assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge plans; assisting patients and significant others to continue treatment and/or be engaged in recognized self-help groups. In addition, supervision of staff and the completion of performance programs/evaluations; crisis intervention as needed and other tasks as assigned or needed. The Van Dyke ATC is a tobacco-free facility.
