Minimum Qualifications Must be reachable on current Civil Service Library Clerk 2, SG-9 list or currently hold the title of Library Clerk 2, SG-9 or a title from which transfer is appropriate.
Duties Description • Process materials for reserve in accordance with written procedures. This includes adding material to the reserve collection, following copyright guidelines for reserve material, removing course reserve material from collection as necessary.
• Prepare materials for the reserve collection through creation of labels, property stamping, repair binding, tattle taping and other processes as deemed necessary and required.
• Supervision of student workers during the weekend hours.
• Provide reference triage; referring patrons to librarians and FAQ resources as appropriate.
• Issue library borrower’s cards according to library procedures.
• Follow opening and closing procedures of the library.
• Provide specialized clerical support to circulation and reserve activities such as circulating library materials and searching lost materials.
• Provide basic information and general assistance to library patrons such as answering simple directional questions, assistance in locating library materials and using the online catalog.
• Assist public using equipment such as scanners, fax machines, printers and photocopiers.
• Search OCLC and the ILMS as needed for record correction and inputting information as required.
• Check-in newly bound volumes, updating catalog records, and physically processing materials.
• Assist with collection maintenance, such as re-shelving, measuring, and shelf-reading.
• Handle and lift library materials (books, book trucks, boxes of photocopy paper).
• Other tasks at the direction of the Library Director.
