Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either a high school diploma or GED AND a valid NYS driver’s license.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Special consideration will be given to employees who have experience working in a clerical office setting.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED’s) Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking applicants to fill a temporary Support Services Assistant position in the Albany Central Office in the Independent Living Unit. Under the supervision of the Manager, Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1, major responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accompany the Manager, Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1 on travel across NYS and drive a rental vehicle if necessary;
• Read materials aloud including correspondence, emails, data reports, and spreadsheets;
• Operate a braille printer;
• Maintain the Manager, Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1’s calendar and set up appointments, notify him of daily appointments, and read incoming requests to attend meetings; and
• Answer phones, and perform other routine office duties such as filing, copying, faxing, as assigned.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a temporary appointment contingent upon the continued employment of the Manager, Educational and Vocational Services Coordination 1. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of the Budget approval.
