Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH), Division of Forensic Services, Bureau of Sex Offender Evaluation and Community Treatment, is seeking qualified, current State employees to fill a Licensed Master Social Worker 2, Grade 20 position in the Risk Assessment and Record Review Unit.
Pursuant to Article 10 of the Mental Hygiene Law, the Bureau is responsible for coordinating and conducting the multi-disciplinary risk assessment and clinical review of individuals who have been convicted of a qualifying sex offense and who are approaching the end of their criminal sentence to assist in determining whether civil management is appropriate. The Bureau also oversees and monitors the implementation of programs to manage the treatment of individuals who are confined in a secure treatment facility or released to strict and intensive community supervision and treatment as a result of the Article 10 process.
Duties will include, but not be limited to: review records, conduct actuarial risk assessments, generate reports, present sex offense cases to a multi-disciplinary team and serve as a Case Review team member to assist in the determination of whether civil management is appropriate for sex offenders who have pending release dates. The incumbent will work as part of a clinical team and will interface with community treatment providers, staff at OMH, Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, Office of the Attorney General and other State and local agency personnel.
