Duties Description The incumbent is responsible for processing HP-1 requests for administrative award in the Disputed Medical Bills Unit. Duties include but are not limited to: reviewing HP-1 requests and attachment(s) for correct information and ensuring all appropriate information is provided and any required documents are attached; verifying carrier and identifying any related legal issues applying to requirements of Workers’ Compensation Law (WCB) and regulations; appropriately applying any NYS Medical Fee Schedules payment or ground rules information; accurately preparing letters of rejection and indicating appropriate reason(s) for rejections with accurate billing address, grammar, spelling and punctuation; answering telephone calls; approving and preparing HP-2 awards for accepted requests using HPA system.
