Minimum Qualifications 1. Must currently be permanent in the title of Psychologist 2 or Associate Psychologist;
OR
2. Must be active and reachable on the NYS Civil Service eligible list for Psychologist 2 or Associate Psychologist;
OR
3. Must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the NYS
Department of Civil Service (must be within 2 grades of targeted title AND meet the required minimum qualifications
listed below);
OR
4. Qualified for provisional appointment. (If you meet the minimum qualifications noted below, you may submit a
completed NYS-APP form to the Personnel Office for scoring).
Minimum Qualifications: Psychologist 2
1. A Master of Psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university which prepares graduates for master’s level psychologist positions in clinical or community mental health settings. The degree program must have included a psychology practicum or externship; AND
2. Two years of supervised post master’s degree psychology experience.
Substitutions for post-master’s degree experience: Completion of a full-time one year pre-doctoral internship or traineeship in a clinical or community mental health setting may be substituted for one year of post master’s degree experience. A doctoral degree in psychology may be substituted for two years of post-master’s degree experience.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate Psychologist
1. An earned doctoral degree in a field of psychology, AND
2. EITHER a one-year, full-time clinical internship or traineeship OR one year of psychology experience in a clinical setting, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
Duties Description • Provide psychological services to individuals who live in Individual Residential Alternative homes in Orange County.
• Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team and attend meetings for treatment plan development / review and residential habilitation.
• Develop, implement, and monitor functional behavior assessments and behavior support plans for individuals with challenging behaviors associated with intellectual disability/developmental disability and psychiatric diagnoses.
• Present behavior plans to review committees (BMRC, ICC) for approval.
• Collect and summarize behavior data for psychiatry consults and treatment plans.
• Participate as a member of the Psychology Department. This includes attending monthly meetings and performing special assignments, as directed.
• Conduct assessments including risk assessments, risk management plans, capacity to consent evaluations, and impact statements, as applicable.
• Complete psychological evaluations and perform routine psychological assessments such as intelligence testing and measures of adaptive behavior, as applicable.
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
