Minimum Qualifications Attorneys handle all phases of litigation, including trials. Superior lawyering skills, including research, writing, legal advocacy and legal analysis, are required. Some in-state travel is required. Two (2) or more years of experience is required.

Attorneys must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that OAG attorneys be citizens of the United States.

Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) seeks an attorney capable of handling significant, complex and voluminous litigation in the Sex Offender Management Bureau in New York City. The Bureau represents the State of New York in state court proceedings related to Mental Health Law Article 10. Cases in the Bureau frequently present questions of mental hygiene law, criminal law, constitutional law, agency law and statutory interpretation.
